July 2018 Meeting

Call to order [Olivia and Nikki]

Olivia and Nikki called the meeting to order and welcomed the new members and guests.  We had a very special guest from the podcast Just Wanna Quilt, Elizabeth Townsend Gard.  Our member Tara Miller was recently featured on a podcast episode. You should check it out.

Treasurer’s Report[Katey]

Katey provided the treasurer’s report.  We will not be posting the accounts balances online. However, any member is welcome to ask for the information and it will be provided at each meeting.  We have 37 paid members so far for the year.

Social Events [Olivia]

Quilt Retreat!  We finalized the date for the day quilt retreat.  July 21st at the Roberts School in Acworth.

Swap partners have been assigned for the exchange with WAMQG.  The quilts are due back at the October meeting.  WAMQG will be joining our October meeting for the exchange!  Use the information from your partner’s questionnaire to make a Mini Quilt (18 inches-ish).  Contact Olivia if you have any questions.

Upcoming Quilt Shows/Events/Member Promotions

If you have a show or event that you would like the guild to know about please contact the board (ATLMQG@gmail.com) so we can get it added.  We would like to promote paid members in our newsletters.  If you have a pattern coming out or are teaching classes let us know so we can share the info!  Please send in requests for the newsletter by the 15th of each month.

2018 Quilt Along [Ella]

Ella shared the 6th block from her quilt along with us -Cross Cut Block. Find the directions under News>Quilt Along.

Linda Petersen-smith  shared and a modern arrow block that uses the ‘magic inch” method and explained how clever fabric arrangement gives the blocks more movement.

Jenny Hynes shared her modern Square-Lines Design and brought in this pillow with amazing texture.
